RingThru

Your phone stays silent. When someone calls you repeatedly in an emergency — it rings through. Automatically. Silently restores itself after.

You silenced your phone to stay focused.
That shouldn't mean unreachable when it matters.
How it works

Three calls means emergency.
One call means distraction.

RingThru knows the difference. Set your threshold once — it handles the rest.

1

Open RingThru and set your rule

Choose your threshold — "ring after 3 calls in 5 minutes" for example. Tap the toggle to enable. That's the entire setup.

2

Put your phone on silent as normal

Work, sleep, focus. Your phone stays completely silent for regular calls. Nothing changes about your normal routine.

3

Emergency — your phone rings through

When someone hits your call count within your time window, your phone rings at full volume. Even through Do Not Disturb. Even when the app is closed.

4

Silent mode restores itself

After the call ends, RingThru returns your phone to exactly how you left it — same volume, same DND state. No manual re-silencing, ever.

Features

Built for the real world.

Works when locked

Runs even when your screen is off and the app is fully closed.

Overrides DND

Breaks through Do Not Disturb when your threshold is reached.

Auto-restore

Silent mode restored automatically after every triggered call.

Zero battery drain

Uses Android BroadcastReceiver — no background service, no polling.

No data collected

No analytics, no account, no network calls. Everything on-device.

Free forever

No ads. No premium tier. No subscriptions. Ever.

Installation

Installed in 3 minutes.

RingThru is distributed directly — no app store needed. Here's how to sideload it on Android.

1

Download the APK

Tap Download APK above. Your browser saves ringthru.apk to your Downloads folder.

2

Allow installation from unknown sources

Android 8 and above: Open the APK — your browser or Files app will ask to allow installs. Tap Allow from this source.

Android 7 or below: Go to Settings → Security → Unknown Sources and enable it first.

3

Open the APK and install

Find ringthru.apk in your Downloads, tap it, follow the installer. Tap Install, then Open.

4

Grant permissions and enable

Open RingThru. Tap Grant Phone Access and Enable DND Control in the permissions section. Then flip the main toggle. Done.

Transparency

Why each permission.

RingThru requests exactly 3 permissions. Here's what each one does — and nothing more.

READ_PHONE_STATE

Phone Access

Detects when an incoming call is ringing or ends. Never reads phone numbers, contacts, or call logs — only whether a call is ringing or idle.

MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS

Audio Settings

Temporarily raises ringer volume to maximum when your threshold is reached. Your original volume is saved and restored immediately after the call ends.

ACCESS_NOTIFICATION_POLICY

Do Not Disturb Control

Disables DND for the duration of a triggered call only, then restores your exact DND setting afterwards. Never touches DND at any other time.

FAQ

Common questions.

Does this work if I fully close the app?

Yes. RingThru uses an Android BroadcastReceiver registered in the manifest — explicitly exempt from background process restrictions. It fires even when the app is completely killed, using the same mechanism Android uses for system-wide call events.

Is it safe to install an APK from outside the Play Store?

Yes, when you trust the source. This APK is built from fully open source code on GitHub — every line is readable at github.com/vetrisuriya/ringthru. Sideloading is a standard, Google-supported Android feature.

Will this drain my battery?

No. RingThru uses zero battery when idle. It's not a background service — it's a BroadcastReceiver instantiated by Android only when a call event occurs, then immediately destroyed. Fundamentally more efficient than any always-on service.

Does it work with Samsung / Xiaomi / Oppo?

Yes, but some manufacturers run aggressive battery optimisation. If RingThru stops working, add it to "don't optimise" exceptions. On Samsung: Device Care → Battery → Background Usage Limits. On Xiaomi: Security app → Battery → Power Saving → set RingThru to "No restrictions".

Can I choose which contacts can trigger the ring?

Not in v1.0 — RingThru counts calls from any number. The rationale: emergencies don't always come from saved contacts. Per-contact rules are planned for a future version.

Is there an iOS version?

No. iOS doesn't allow apps to intercept incoming calls or modify ringer volume. The APIs simply don't exist for third-party apps. RingThru is Android-only by necessity, not by choice.

Ready to use

Never miss an emergency call again.

Free forever. No account. No ads. No data leaving your phone. Just a phone that rings when it truly matters.
